Gardening with Kids
Engendering a love of gardening in your grandchildren surely can’t be wrong. Eating what you have grown or watching new blossoms emerge in the spring are part of the joys of life.
Below are a number of websites from which you might find inspiration and guidance to getting the most out of the gardening with children experience.
New site suggestions are always welcome.
I am so pleased to see many schools around the world encouraging and supporting children to grow their own fruit and veges. Knowing where your food comes from – and how much work it takes to produce – increases appreciation of all those who dedicate their lives to providing great quality and consistent supply of fruit and vegetables.
Some extra gardening equipment might be needed, especially for little ones, to really get into the activity, including; children’s sized garden gloves, ‘play’ clothes that the parents won’t mind get dirty or stained, small gardening equipment, pots for them to plant edible seedlings and patience as they learn that dirt shouldn’t come in the house. Have fun!
