About World’s Best Grandmother
There appears to be a widely held belief that grandmothers are old, grey, infirm and totally without computer skills. It may be the case for some but I am a grandmother and not grey (yet), only feel infirm on some days, and actually quite computer literate (a good skill seeing I still work full time in adult education). Actually, I know quite a few grandmothers who, like me, are really quite knowledgeable and still active members of the community. Besides, even my 84 year old aunt can send jokes via email, download photos to a CD and still trades on the stock exchange. I believe grandparents generally are under-appreciated as being able to keep up with advances in technology.
There are lots of different grandmothers (and grandfathers) from the incredibly indulgent to the thrifty, from the distant or occasional visitor to the full time carer. You may have waited a long time to become a grandmother or a surprisingly short time. Through changing relationships you may have become a step-grandparent.
Grandparents need information on services and products specifically to meet their needs. The second time around we are older, wiser and hopefully less stressed – but it might have been some years since you had to change a nappy, monitor a 2 year old, cope with the mess of kids in your house, or even more challenging – entertain a teenager
